Stop Divorce, Ask Yourself If You Know What Your Doing

By Sabrina Summerfield | July 4, 2009

There are plenty of reasons that couples should really strive to stick together and help to stop divorce. The divorce rate as is happens to be a sad reminder of why relationships are failing and so is marriage. The institution of marriage is something that is so overly protected by the religious right that it makes it difficult for anyone who isn’t straight heterosexual couples to actually get married. So what is happening that is making so many straight couples end up in divorce court?

The stress usually comes from family, friends, or even perhaps your religious beliefs. None of which are good reasons to actually make the commitment. They are in fact really poor reasons to take the step towards marriage. These will almost always end in failure and cause more pain than they would have originally if both parties only spoke their mind. The most important thing by far to consider in any relationship headed towards the aspects of marriage is communication and actual willingness to communicate not just saying you will.

Without effective levels of communication things are naturally going to become overlooked and then later blown out of proportion. This happens because one person usually ends up completely hating the other person for whatever reason they have been keeping bottled up.

It isn’t puppy love, or love based on pregnancy, or a desire to please ones family. It is an important choice and should be considered as such. We need to stop treating it as a fun past time or an event that naturally happens whenever we feel the need to do something.

Divorce is extremely damaging to the family unit. Especially if it happens to involve children or anyone other than the two parties involved. People tend to be selfish to an extent in a marriage. They don’t really understand what the institution of marriage is actually and they regularly abuse its privileges and its benefits. It should be considered a great deal by both parties before agreeing to partake in the ceremony. Everyone has to realize that when a marriage ends and there is a family created they are then split. Children are unaware of what is actually happening most of the time.

For these reasons couples really need to consider what it means to partake in marriage. They need to be ready to completely and utterly be there and be supportive of their spouse. They need to work to stop divorce.

Are there Tax Advantages to Dual Citizenship?

By Frank Muller | July 4, 2009

There are many multi-national companies and businesses whose executives and even the corporation itself that have dual citizenship status on one or more countries (other than their country of origin) that they are doing business in so that they can legally do business in those countries. There are pros and cons to a corporations executives holding dual citizenship that need to be explored.

Those that are dealing with business immigration for the sake of expanding your business and making the global economy a little better really need to discuss those matters with an attorney that is certified and able to handle business law.

You are going to regret it if you do not consult with an attorney that deals with business law in general and investment immigration (as well as business immigration) as a specialty. There are many different laws involving taxes and financial responsibilities that you might not be aware of. These are things that you need to pay attention to.

Yet they find out about this the hard way when they are denied access to financial funding that they need or are detained by the authorities for failure to pay taxes in either country. While this situation is not the best in the world, you can avoid it by knowing what laws you need to obey where. Knowing what is expected of you will keep you from dealing with the pitfalls that dual citizenship often creates.

Are you looking to live in a secondary country and gain a second passport in order to expand your business into that country? This is part of what investment immigration is all about. Those doing business in a foreign country need to apply for citizenship if they are going to be there for a while.

Making sure that you know all the rules and laws involved in holding two different citizenships keeps you out of major trouble. Those that do not know all the rules are likely to find out in some unfriendly ways that they needed to read a bit more about dual citizenship.

Those with dual citizenship that are trying to make their mark in the business world really need to pay close attention to all of the laws involved in both countries. Making the mistake of not paying attention to the laws and rules involved is not going to sit too well.

Dual citizenship carries more advantages than people realize, yet dual citizenship also entails much more financial and civic responsibility to those that you are working with.

Chinese Furniture: Beijing Shoppers’ Favorite

By Andy Lao | July 4, 2009

Unique, beautiful Chinese furniture is admired by furniture lovers the world over. Developed over 4,000 years ago, Chinese furniture has evolved into a sophisticated art form over the last couple hundred years. Although its enchanting beauty attracts most, it is also praised for its excellent practical functions. Both Chinese and overseas shoppers enjoy buying Chinese furniture to beautify their homes.

Even though archaeological evidence suggests the Chinese started making furniture items as early as the Neolithic period, classic-style Chinese furniture did not come into being until the Tang dynasty. During the Ming and Qing dynasties, furniture was perfected and became a cultured, highly sophisticated decorative art.

The history of the development of Chinese furniture can be roughly divided into three periods: the pre-Tang period, the Tang and Song dynasty period, and the Ming and Qing dynasty period.

Pre-Tang Period: Chinese people who lived before the Tang dynasty preferred to sit on a woven mat with short, simple furniture items organized around it. This practice is much like the Japanese tradition of sitting on a “tatami.” Though simplicity was the norm for most ordinary people, the rich could afford furniture adorned with lavish decorations.

Tang and Song Dynasty Period: During the Tang dynasty, upper-class Chinese began to use the classic-style Chinese furniture. Paintings from that period show people sitting on high chairs instead of mats. This change is believed to be influenced by Buddhism and the lifestyle of the nomadic tribes living in northern China. In the Song dynasty, both ordinary people and social elites accepted this change and started to use this new style of furniture in their homes.

Ming and Qing Dynasty Period: The development of Chinese furniture reached its zenith during this period. The refinement of decorative patterns and the advancements in furniture-making techniques enabled Chinese furniture to reach an unforeseen level of beauty and sophistication. The old designs were discarded, replaced, or thoroughly improved, and a variety of new designs was invented.

Though similar in style and construction, the furniture made in these two dynasties had an important difference. Ming dynasty furniture emphasized creating an elegant, pure form that showed scholarly taste. Qing dynasty furniture, on the other hand, focused on refining the decorations. These decorations came to be the epitome of ostentatious beauty and grandiose design. Now, most antique furniture items in Chinese markets are from this period.

Chinese furniture is generally priced for its material and craftsmanship. Years of experience is usually required for anyone to become an expert in judging the quality of any furniture piece.

Chinese furniture is usually made of wood. Depending on the quality and rarity of the wood, the price of a piece of furniture can go from a few hundred to millions of dollars. Furniture dealers in China rank the quality of different types of wood in this way: “One yellow, two black, three red, and four white.”

“One yellow” refers to the most precious wood of all - Huanghuali wood, or Yellow Pear wood.

“Two black” means Zitan wood, or Purple Incense wood, the second most revered kind of Chinese furniture.

“Three red” refers to redwood, the most well-known, popular type of wood among Chinese furniture fans. The four main types of redwood are: old redwood, Chicken’s Wing wood, Tieli wood, and Huali wood.

“Four white” means white wood. There are many types of white wood that are commonly used, including Nanmu wood, beech tree wood, camphorwood, and pine.

While it might only require book knowledge to judge the quality of wood, it requires experience and a deep understanding of Chinese culture to judge the craftsmanship of a piece of Chinese furniture. Profound concepts like the unity of man and heaven, the peace between man and nature, and the inner and outer beauty of things are all integrated in great pieces of Chinese furniture. A trained expert examining the craftsmanship of any piece can know not only the technical skill of the person who made it, but the meaning of the design.

Beijing has a number of great shops with unique, beautiful Chinese furniture created by some of the best artisans in China. If you don’t have experience in buying Chinese furniture, you can find a personal shopper to take you to shops with well-established reputations and give you advice on which products to buy.

Australian National Parks At Their Best - Which Ones To Visit

By Jennifer Schellington | July 4, 2009

Did you know that Australia is one of the driest continents in the world? It is part of a huge land mass called Gondwana, which linked Africa, Antarctica, Australia, India and South America. It broke up more than 100 million years ago.

Australia has 516 National Parks to explore. The parks cover an amazing 25 million hectares. That’s actually only 3% of the total land mass of Australia!

The parks are looked after by state governments but there are some National Parks that are deemed so significant that they are looked after by the Federal Government.

No visit to Australia is complete without a trip to at least one National Park. Most of its famous natural attractions are in one of the parks anyway, so by default, you’ll end up visiting.

I couldnt possibly take you through all 516 National Parks. What I intend to do is tell you about some of the best.

Firstly a little more background on the National Parks. They can be very large and have often acquired National Park status due to its ancient rock art (Uluru Kata Tjuta - Ayers Rock), special plants or trees, or wildlife. Generally the average visitor only gets to visit a small pocket of the park given its size but there are others that are more manageable given they are smaller.

The majority of parks require an entrance fee. This can be by person or by vehicle depending on the park. It’s not normally very much (around $10) but for popular parks such as Ayers Rock, you can expect to pay more. Most passes give you unlimited access to the park for 48 hours.

Want to Camp in the National Parks?

Many people choose to camp in National Parks. This is a great idea if you like the open air and arent too worried about snakes or spiders (only joking!) There are usually designated areas for camping and there are strict campfire regulations given the risk of bush fires. The facilities are usually quite basic though so dont expect hot showers. That said, some of them do!

You generally need a permit to camp in the National Parks and places are limited. In the peak of summer it can sometimes be hard to find camping spots available so you need to book well in advance. The government websites will allow you to search for campsites. Remember that you will need to do this for EACH state given that the parks are run by the state government. Over Christmas when it is really busy, some of the national parks run a ballot system. If your name is picked out of the hat, you are one of the lucky ones (this is how it works in Freycinet National Park in Tasmania)

It’s hard to pick which are the best National Parks and it can be a little subjective as it depends what you like. All have stunning scenery and below you can find my top 3. There are over 15 on the website featured below.

Best for Coast and Beaches

Lord Howe Island is one of the only Australian islands to have been added to the UNESCO world heritage list due its pristine beauty. Only 400 tourists are allowed on the island at any one time to ensure its prefect-ness is maintained! This is a perfect place to experience fantastic marine life and glorious walking through forests and mountains. You can explore the Valley of the shadows, filled with 40-metre high forests of Kentia palms and towering banyan trees. The day walk up Mount Gower is one of the best day walks to do in Australia. You can also walk to Kims lookout and enjoy great views across the lagoon to the southern tip of the island.

Best for Ancient Rock Formations

Uluru Kata Tjuta is probably the most visited National Park in Australia given its the home of Ayers Rock. This is a world Heritage listed site for its culture and natural values. It is the heart of the red centre and a very spiritual place indeed. Clearly its about visiting the rock, either at sunset or sunrise (when the rock is at its very best due to the light that is cast upon it.) There are special viewing platforms where you can park up and enjoy the views. Get there early though as the best positions go quickly. The sunrise and sunset dinners are also worth going to but not both. Just pick one. The park itself is split into two ” Uluru (Ayers Rock) and Kata Tjuta, where the Olgas are. I personal thought the Olgas were more impressive than the rock so a visit to both is highly recommended. There is a great Cultural Centre that you should visit first. This will inform you of all the walks and when the guided ones are available. Theres often some Aboriginals here too selling locally made products. The most popular walk is the Base walk which takes in the entire base of the rock which is about 9km in total. It says to leave approx 4 hours but you can do it much more quickly than that and still have time to take photographs. Some get to the rock and insist on climbing it. First, if its a hot day, they close the climb. More importantly, you just shouldnt make the climb given its totally against the local aboriginals culture and beliefs. Its also extremely steep and apart from a small iron rope to hold onto, there is nothing. Its very dangerous.

The Grampians National Park, 260km from Melbourne is one of the most popular parks in Victoria. To get there you need to take the Glenelg or Western Highway from Melbourne and the journey will take you about 3.5 hours. There’s lots to do and see apart from the Grampians themselves (a series of sandstone ridges with steep slopes.) Try a 2 day walk or Mount Abrupt for the best views over the park. The Mackenzie falls are very popular but if you want to get off the tourist trail, go further into the park away from Halls Gap. Try Wartook Valley (Mount Zero and Mount Stapylton) or for something more strenuous, go for Mount Difficult. Stony Creek which goes via Stony Peek is also good as is the Wall of China which offers great views to Tower Hill and picturesque Victoria Valley.

Finding My Croc Shoes

By Matthew Giovanisci | July 4, 2009

When Crocs first came out, I was one of the many people that scoffed at the shoes. They were made of an ugly rubber, came in brilliant colors, and seemed awkward. They were like nothing else on the shoe market, and I was naive enough to turn a cheek to their uniqueness.

When Crocs first came out, I was one of the naive people that looked at them and wondered how people could wear them. Not only were they ugly, but they seemed bulky and uncomfortable. It was like people were trying to torture their feet for doing something bad to them. I spent a good year of my life forbidding to ever get a pair. And then a friend convinced me to just try on a pair, and form an opinion of my own.

Then, a few months later, as I was browsing a local shoe store, I came across the shoe that would change my life. The Mary Jane style Crocs. I once again tried them on, adn immediately knew I had to have them. I searched through the boxes to find my size and color, and then ran up to the cashier to pay for them. I put them on as soon as I got into the car, and then sat there smiling for a good five minutes before I drove away. I finally found the perfect shoe. Comfort and style. My feet have been thanking me ever since.

I still had my doubts about some of the Crocs styles, though. A few of them still had that cumbersome, bulky look to them that I just couldn’t swallow. It was tough trying to convince myself to not judge a book by it’s cover, like I had originally done, even after I had bought a pair of Crocs. And then one day at the mall, while shopping at a high end shoe store, I came across the most beautiful shoe ever.

As soon as I got home I fired up the computer and checked out Crocs.com, and was amazed with what I saw. There were heels, wedges, metallics, shoes that could be worn with dresses, slacks, oh my, I was in heaven. All I had to do was go to crocs.com and pick out my favorites.

As soon as I got home, I rushed over to the computer to get on the internet and check out www.crocs.com. I was floored. The different styles seemed like they went on forever. There were heels. There were wedges. There were metallics. Shoes that could be worn with dresses, and shoes that could be worn with slacks. I was in my paradise. All I had to do was browse to www.crocs.com, and comfort and style were at my fingertips. Now, when it’s time to go out for the night, I decide on wearing either my Hanalei, Rio, or Postiano’s, and my feet are wrapped in comfort, yet I still am dressed to impress.

How To Find Cheap Family Deals For Holidays Abroad

By Liz Taylor | July 4, 2009

The following article includes pertinent information that may cause you to reconsider what you thought you understood. The most important thing is to study with an open mind and be willing to revise your understanding if necessary.

Most people buy travel insurance for trips and holidays abroad but these policies do generally provide cover for travel within the UK, though do check the small print rather than assuming that this is always the case. Add to this all the holidays abroad and the fact they seem to learn much more about other countries than kids in the US do, I just think they develop the ability to adapt more readily. I think the smallest countries like Belgium and Holland are the most flexible. European tourists, for example, do not cancel their holidays abroad, however, they tend to shorten their holiday, which directly leads to a loss in total tourism revenue.

If you’ve been hoping to stumble across a great idea for cheap holidays abroad, rejoice! I think I know just what you need. Don’t go planning your summer holidays abroad until you have built up your emergency fund and you know you can afford it. If you need to go somewhere, maybe think of a couple of trips you could do in the local vicinity without costing too much money. No family summer holidays abroad had been cancelled. No friends had had to leave the school, or move house.

The information about cheap holidays abroad presented here will do one of two things: either it will reinforce what you know about cheap holidays abroad or it will teach you something new. Both are good outcomes.

Low prices for short holidays abroad allay customer fears and build confidence to go for longer tours with the same travel portal subsequently. Yatra.com is also highlighting itineraries different from the usual that it has put together with the help of the tourism boards of states and national parks. Like many British seaside resorts, its grandeur and glamour has perhaps faded a little in recent years in the luring headlamps of package holidays abroad. But if tourists don’t flock here in quite the numbers they once did, the town is making a huge and visible effort to tempt them back again with refurbishments and street artworks. I doubt it will increase business from Denmark however, as apparently under 15% of Danes take holidays abroad.

Among 15 to 24 year olds from Britain, fully 64% take their holidays abroad. Among the over 65 year old set, 60% of them take their holidays at home in Britain. In addition, the number wishing to relax over the May holidays abroad had declined, and those who go, reduce the cost of holiday.

As your knowledge about cheap holidays abroad continues to grow, you will begin to see how cheap holidays abroad fits into the overall scheme of things. Knowing how something relates to the rest of the world is important too.

Do Not Wait To Get Over Somebody Fast

By Johnny Will | July 4, 2009

When a relationship ends, particularly if you’re not the person that finished it, how to get over someone becomes crucial. It isn’t always straightforward to get over an individual you have been with, though. If you have been with that person for a particularly long time it’s even harder. It could be pretty simple to get over a relationship that is lasted 3 months. But if you have been with someone for 3 years, it’s hard to get over that person at all, not to mention get over them fast. Luckily, there are some things you can do to speed up the process.

When you’re wondering how to get over somebody, sit in a chair in your living room or bedroom, wherever there’s a very strong sense of the other person. Remove anything that reminds you of that person a large amount. This is not necessarily simple to do, but each little bit helps. If you’ve bought a dog together, as an example, naturally you will not need to get shot the dog. But anything your ex purchased for you that is on show like a knick-knack or something hanging on the wall would be a good thing to get rid of for a while.

If you have lots of things that will make you think of your ex, you are likely wondering how to get over someone without making your rooms completely bare. But even if you picked out practically everything together, you don’t have to get rid of everything to make this work. Just choose items that have particularly robust memories.

Maybe you picked out the couch together, but it’s one of the throw pillows that you purchased or the figurine on the end table he gave gave you as a present that seems to make you feel sad when you look at it. Remove those items and store them for a bit, simply to make things less complicated on you.

If you’re having a tough time and feel that you can handle it, you can think of all your ex’s bad qualities. Of all the systems of how to get over someone, this is the one where you actually think about your ex the most, so if just the thought of them brings you to tears you may not be prepared for this step. Think of the things you loathed the most about them. If you can’t thing of anything, just go on. But many of us can come up with a lengthy list of things we dislike about someone, especially if they were the ones to end the relationship.

A popular method of how to get over someone is to simply start to date again. Many people balk at this idea-they assume they still love the ex and are not prepared. You can do this even if you are still in love with your ex. No one asserts you have to fall in love directly. But dating or maybe going out with chums is not just how to get over somebody, it’s how to keep from feeling sorry for yourself while you try.
