4 Lesser Known European Cities You Have To Visit

By Morten Elm | March 11, 2010

Did you know that Europe has 50 different countries? And did you plan to visit all of them on your next Europe-trip. Well, unless you have several months, you should instead focus on a few large cities. Below I will suggest 4 cities in 4 countries, which all have great sights, delicious food and/or superb nightlife.

Amsterdam, the Netherlands. If you are looking for a very liberal minded city with legal hash and sex, Amsterdam is the place to go. You can buy hash in the so-called coffeeshops or sex (which comes in all kind of sizes and nationalities) in the Red Light District.

But Amsterdam is much more than a city of sins. You can also find museums with great art from Van Gogh and Rembrandt. Or you can visit the Anne Frank House ” the place where the Anne Franks Diary was written.

Barcelona, Spain. Okay, the capital of Spain is Madrid. But who cares ” the place to go is Barcelona. Here you can find everything for a great city break: fine food, great sights and a superb nightlife. Sport fans should also visit the home ground of the famous FC Barcelona, Camp Nou.

If you only have time for one sight, it should be the unfinished cathedral Sagrada Famlia by Antoni Gaud. Or you can take a relaxing stroll down the La Rambla to Barceloneta, where you can find great seafood and tapas.

Budapest, Hungary. Budapest is separated in two parts by Danube (made famous by Johann Strauss). On the left side is the hilly Buda-part and on the left bank is the flat Pest-area. Most of the sights are located on the Castle Hill in Buda and the central part of Pest.

Two must see sights are the Royal Palace and the National Gallery. A great place for relaxing and wandering is the park on the Margaret Island, while the best shopping is found on the in Vci Street and in Westend City Center (Central Europes largest shopping centre).

Prague, the Czech Republic. If you need a cheap vacation, Prague could be the place to go. Even though the prices have gone up since the Cold War, you can still find cheap accommodation and eating in Prague.

The city has many great sights. A good place to start is Star Mesto, which is the old part of the city. Here you can see the impressive Astronomical Clock. From there you can follow the Charles Bridge over the Vltava River ” remember to look at the paintings and souvenir. On the other side you find the Prague Castle ” known as the biggest ancient castle in the world. Other great sights are the Jewish Museum, the Kafka Museum and the historical Jewish ghetto Josefov.

Is Today The Optimum Time To Exchange Your Euro Currency?

By Simon Davies | March 11, 2010

The Information on the Euro

The euro is a very new form of currency that was officially established in 2002, although the idea behind this universal money has been around since the 1950s. The euro, also denoted as EUR, is the currency used by the 12 members of the European Union (Germany, Austria, Greece, Spain, Ireland, France, Italy, Luxembourg, The Netherlands, Portugal, Belgium, and Finland), as well as some other regions like Andorra, Kosovo, and Montenegro. Among the most important evolutions ever to occur in continental Europe, the Euro’s establishment was developed with the goal in mind of setting up a unified form of payment across Europe, since exchange between the countries is a daily occasion. A unified central bank and common interest rate to be employed by the 12 members of this monetary union followed in the wake of the creation of the EUR. Monetary policy in Europe is based in Frankfurt, Germany due to the fact that this is the headquarters of the central bank and is where decisions are made.

Historical British Pound Sterling to Euro Conversion Rates

As the Euro does not carry a long track record yet, it has a limited history of conversion rates. Ever since it was first set up, the euro started out strong and has continued to perform strongly in contrast to both the US dollar and the British pound since it encompasses a larger section of the economy and a larger segment of the population. The European Union has seen continued improvement against its competition by succeeding in efforts to curb inflation, interest rates, and unemployment thereby lending stability to its currency. Beginning in its introductory year of circulation, the conversion rate for the sterling British pound and the Euro was 1.59 GBP to EUR, giving a noticeable hold over the world’s financial economy system in general. Since then, the numbers have gone up and down, but the Euro continues to perform adequately on average indicating a continuation of prosperity and well-placed control in Europe.

Convert GBP to EUR – Recent Exchange Rates for Euros

The Euro proves to be a powerful legal tender in global currency exchange markets even this year. However, since the introduction of the Euro in 2002, the value of the currency has been eventually trickling downwards. The exchange rate for the Euro has steadily diminished from 1.59 EUR to GBP in 2002 to 1.1 EUR to GBP in 2008. Because nation states in the European Union economic zone rely heavily on the United States for the sale of their exports and for tourism dollar inflows, the Euro has declined as a result of the world and US economies’ significant setbacks. The EUR has few opportunities to increase its circulation, and has subsequently diminished in exchange power as American consumers have been unable to purchase goods and services. Unless the core makeup of the system is shaken up, there is no reason to expect massive gains for the Euro in the near-term future; however, the Euro should still remain one of the stronger currencies in use.

FairFX offer some of the best value rates on euros in the market, and are currently offering a free holiday money card, which gives great rates when holidaying in Europe, to our readers. Go to FairFX now, and check out the excellent euro exchange rates on offer.

The Highlight of Berlin

By Morten Elm | March 11, 2010

One of the most interesting cities in Europe is the capital of Germany, Berlin. Here you find fantastic sights, great cooking, interesting modern art and a wild nightlife. Many buildings were damaged in the final years of World War II, but today they are all rebuild.

After World War II, Berlin was divided into four sectors: a French, American and British sector in West Berlin and USSR sector in East Berlin). After the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989, the city merged together and again became the capital of the reunified Germany.

The landmark of Berlin, Brandenburger Tor was originally a 26 meter (85 feet) high main gate to Berlin. Under the Cold War is stood in a waste part of East Berlin, but in 1990 reopened as a symbol of the German reunification.

The Reichstag Building (German Parliament Building) is another important historical building in Berlin. In 1933 Hitler used a fire in the dome to declare state of emergency, and in 1945 the Red Army planted a flag on the roof to declare their victory. After a major renovation in 1999 the building reopened with a new, impressive glass dome. If you would like to visit the building, you must be prepared for a long line and a heavy security check.

Berlin has its share of remains of the Cold War. A typical example is Check Point Charlie. Originally it was the border post on the Eastern and Western border. Today the museum Haus am Checkpoint Charlie stands as the monument of a tough time. Here you can see photos and other effects from the separated Berlin.

For shopaholics Berlin is a great city. In KaDeWe, the largest department store in Europe, you find everything for yourself and your home. The most impressive part is the food and beverage part on the sixth floor. Here you find 800 types of bread, 1000 different sausages, 1700 different cheeses and even wild boar and deer. And the best part is that you can taste samples of almost everything.

If you are more into markets, Berlin has its share. The best ones are the weekend markets: Flohmarkt am Arkonaplatz, Kunst- und Nostalgiemarkt at the Museumsinsel and Grosser Berliner Trdel- und Kunstmarkt at Strasse de 17. Juni in Tiergarten. Around Christmas there are also a lot of Weinachtsmrkte around the city, where you can buy Glhwein, waffles and sausages.

Berlin does also have a great art scene. There are a lot of galleries and modern art museums spread around the city. The best ones are the Museumsinsel, the Neue Nationalgalerie and the famous art gallery Galerie Eigen & Art.

St. Ives Cornwall An Overview

By Frederick Hoymer | March 11, 2010

Visitors to the county of Cornwall at the very tip of the United Kingdom will happen upon a beautiful and ancient seaside resort called St Ives Cornwall. A fabulous bay, crescent shaped with soft sands hugs the shoreline. The sea around St Ives has the reputation of being the purest water in all of western Europe. Dolphins, Porpoises and other creatures are frequently seen playing in the waves.

The coastal area is blessed with long sandy beaches such as; Porthmeor, Porthminster and Porthgwidden. St Ives captures the very soul of an old beach town. It offers visitor’s culture of a unique kind including intriguing art galleries and gift stores not to mention the famous Cornish pasty shops.

There is an old legend about a saintly woman of mobility named St Ia. She reputedly made the journey from her birthplace in Ireland to evangelise Cornwall. The legend goes on to say that she was afraid of the long journey across the ocean and so began to pray. It seems that her prayer was answered by God because suddenly a huge leaf appeared. She sat upon this and floated across the channel to the coast of Cornwall. After a while the legend says, she built a small chapel in a woodland clearing. Eventually after many centuries a church was built, which stands there to this day and is dedicated to her name.

Tourists who plan to stay for several days in St Ives will have the opportunity to seek out many of the attractions that are beyond the city walls as it were. There is a popular theme park called the Flambard’s Experience which has all the fun of the fair, booths, roller coasters et al, and visitors can wander through the old cottages and courtyards some of which are very ancient indeed.

Behind the Sloop pub is the Tate Museum, and a craft market called the Sloop Market where small studios are huddled together creating and selling many types of local hand crafted goods, especially beechwood items and their famous stained-glass products.

Many visit the famous Sloop Inn a pub which skirts the rear end of The Tate Museum and Art galleries, where small craft and gift shops cluster around like chicks round mother hen. Visitors who happen to call in to St Ives during the main summer season will have the chance to enter in to the fun and frolics of the local festivals which take place. Many traditions like the Mayoral ceremony and mid Summer bonfire are always well attended.

The town of St Ives Cornwall is easy to find and is well serviced by public transport. Railway, Buses, and Coach links are excellent. Visitors to this ancient area of the United Kingdom will be assured of a warm Celtic welcome and return to their homes full of happy memories of this remarkable part of Cornwall.

Let the Air Out Of This Wedding

By Aaron Hu | March 11, 2010

There you are at the alter with your new bride to be listening to the long-winded preacher go through his eloquently prepared speech. He is just about to get to the good part when suddenly, your stomach cramps up and you know…, I mean, you just know that you are about to pass some of the most noxious and disgusting gas imaginable. How you know is easy, because, like an idiot, you went out last night and sowed the last of your wild oats. That means you drank so much that you are still over the legal limit and its been 18 hours since your last drink. You find yourself wishing that Taco Bell did not have an all night drive through and wish you had not polished off twelve of them.

The empty bottle of pink, cherry flavored stomach medicine laying on the bathroom counter will do nothing but add a slightly cherry-ish tinge to an otherwise deadly fume and at this point, the only thing you can do is bend over and clutch your stomach, and your butt cheeks. But you can’t do that in the middle of a ceremony that will remain in your wife’s keen memory for the rest of your short and painful marriage should you blow wind and kill all the guests on this side of the church.

What can you do to prevent or at least minimize the damage? Here are a few tips at damage control because short of sticking a roll of quarters in a very uncomfortable place, in public, you are about to embarrass yourself.

One thing you can do is cut it loose. Just let it go and then quickly step back and glare at your best man. This technique, known as deflection, is the same technique you used on the school bus as a child when you wanted to embarrass your best friend who is now your best man. He will know what to do if he is still sharp. He will turn and glare at the unsuspecting groomsman next to him. This may actually work if your soon to be wife has the I.Q. of a muskrat and is deaf on the right side.

Another option is to ease it out and pray for a silent passing that is not so potent that it fuses the sand in the beach wedding favors or wilts the wild flowers on the summer wedding favors. A silent passage allows you the opportunity to take a five count before dramatically sniffing the air and looking around as if you smell smoke and are trying to locate the fire.

There are a few things you have to remember when deflecting a butt bomb away from yourself. Fisrt of all, never and I mean never deflect, even in the slightest way towards your new bride. For one thing, she will never forgive you and ca dial a divorce lawyer faster than you can say I’m sorry. Most important, if she does forgive you, which she won’t even if she says she will, revenge is a dish best served cold. Women know cold, brother, you don’t want to go there. Your apt to wake up on your anniversary with the twins in a sling. You cannot deflect towards the preacher either. Accusing a pastor, rabbi, or priest is out of the question, period. I think that it is a law, written or not.

Your best option is to just grin and bear it. Make your apologies, hope for the best because if she loves you, truly and deeply loves you, she will be embarrassed for you, and forgive you. But don’t hold your breath. Well…, you might have to.

The simplest way to Find the Ideal Plus Size Wedding Dress

By Anthone Maxime | March 11, 2010

Looking for the ideal wedding dress is one of the most exciting things with regards to getting married. But this is not always the condition. With individuals who are in the big side, searching for a plus size wedding dress that may make you look glowing can be a major problem.

For regardless of the a lot of stores that provide plus size wedding dresses to clients, there is still a lack of perfect models that will truly camouflage the figures of plus size women. Most in fact, are not even flattering at all and only serves in order to cheat their plus sized customers. This is especially true with the wedding gowns that are usually being sold over the internet. Listed below are a few guidelines that will probably help you find the suitable plus size wedding dress and secure you from scams that proliferate in the wedding dress industry.

1. Know what looks great on you. There are a lot of magazines and books that tell you the right cut and color that will look good on you. Read up on articles about this before you go and hunt for your wedding dress. That way, you already have an idea on what you should be wearing. It will be harder for people to sell you stuff or to convince you to buy something that will not look good on you.

2. Get there along with people you can trust when it comes to clothes When searching for a plus size wedding dress, hunt with friends and family, people who you know will certainly tell you the fact. This is because, we are oftentimes blinded by designs that look great in our eye balls but are not excellent with the body type. These people will assist as your eyes when you are trying out various designs. They will be able to say to you exactly what looks great on you and what looks bad. Make sure though that you believe in their opinion. Otherwise, whatever they say will not matter to you.

3. Buy from a reputable shop Don’t just buy anywhere. If you know what design is great for your body type, then go hunt for your own. You can even go to thrift shops and you can probably get treasures there. But with people who have no idea what looks great for them, buying anywhere is out of the question. You need to go to a shop with a solid reputation, preferably in designs for plus size people. If possible, there should also be a designer that will advise you on what to buy.

4. Don’t buy off the rack Unless you find the perfect plus size wedding dress for your figure, buying off the rack is oftentimes a mistake. It is better to have a designer make a plus size wedding dress for you than buy something that is already ready-made. This way, you can be sure that you have a dress that is created especially for your body type.

5. Do not buy tight dresses People who are in the plus size frequently make the mistake of buying clothes that are one size too small. They believe that the smaller the size is, the better is the appearance. But this is really not the situation. When you purchase any clothes whether a plus size wedding dress or just an ordinary work out clothes, you need a size that suits you to a T and not too tight or too loose. Wearing tight clothes will only stress your curves or your body shape. Too loose, on the other hand, will only make you too frumpy.

Jeff Dunham’s North American Tour

By Heather Maxwell | March 11, 2010

Comedy has never been the same since Jeff Dunham hit the world with his unique style and his “props”. Through school, and even college, Dunham never pushed himself to do better than average; he did whatever he could to just get by. No one really knows the reason for this underachievement as a child; however, some believe it was out of boredom. Regardless, his being an only child gave him time to learn of his creativity and work to perfect it. Jeff, from a young age, had a talent for entertainment and for saying things most people wouldn’t get away with.

Not only does Jeff’s talent shine one stage, but so does his creativity. Everyone, who has seen him before, sits in anticipation waiting to see which character will pop out of his suitcase at each of his appearances. Whether it is these characters that help him get away with his odd sense of humor, or just his karma, Jeff is two-person-act all in one. No matter how many comedians you have seen, there is nothing like seeing Jeff Dunham perform live, on stage.

In his early years, Dunham was privileged to appear on Broadway, side-by-side with Mickey Rooney. Additionally, Dunham could be found at local fairs perfecting his act and talent. During his off time, Jeff would perfect his existing puppets, and create new ones with acts to go with them. Finally, in 1990, Dunham got his first break; Johnny Carson asked him to appear on The Late Show. Dunham not only performed his act, on Johnny’s stage, but had a chance to sit and chat with Johnny, live, as well. It was at this very moment that Dunham became more than a fair name.

Dunham continued to take the road less traveled after his interview with Johnny Carson. But it didn’t take long for Comedy Central to invite him on their station for 30-minute comedy sections. These small stints got Dunham recognized internationally and opened the world up to him. After some time on Comedy Central, the station offered him additional time for special performances, of which he got three. During these specials many of Dunham’s friends were perfected and became adored by his fans. Characters like Walter, Peanut, Jose the Jalapeno on a Stick, Achmed the Dead Terrorist, Sweet Daddy Dee, Bubba J, Melvin the Superhero Guy, and the invisible tequila worm inside the bottle became known through this air time.

Jeff Dunham has been such a success, both here in America and across the globe. He began his latest tour in Michigan on September 18 and continued to tour until November 28 after traveling to California, Illinois, New York, Washington, Oregon, Arizona, and a few other states. Don’t miss your chance as tickets sell out quickly.

Choose A Bhutan Tour, You May Have The Time Of Your Life

By Jeff Dsilva | March 11, 2010

If you have the money saved up, a little time and arrangement can get you to this land locked Himalayan Kingdom and open up a wonder world of picturesque landscapes, enchanting villages, snow capped mountains, ageless forests, erotic sculptures, dark musty monasteries and a culture so rich and steeped in time you will imagine you have indeed been transported back a few hundred years.

First of all you have to get to Paro. The government imposed rule is that you must fly at least one way with the National Carrier, Druk Air.

As Druk is actually the only carrier that flies into Paro, Bhutan’s airport, then the choice is easy. Druk flies a couple of times a week from Kathmandu, Bangkok and Delhi.

Booking your journey is no cool task with so many online tour operators all offering package tours to Bhutan.

The Government of Bhutan has set an every day charge fee for foreigners visiting the country. Many people confuse this with the visa fee and feel that is what costs so much. In fact the visa to visit Bhutan is only US$25. Tours are costly due to the imposed every day tariff.

A lot of companies provide what seem like value for money Bhutan Tours, but inspect the itineraries closer, especially for tours that commence in places like Kathmandu, Bangkok or Delhi, they may include your trip to Paro, but check out how many days you will really be spending inside Bhutan as that is where the money should be spent.

Various tour agents fluff out tours by selling a ten day tour, where only five days may actually be in Bhutan and the relax doing sightseeing all-around the joining point country.

Look for a tour that you can meet in Paro, making your own way there will make sure that you get 100% value for money inside Bhutan. If you book a travel with an agent they will most likely be able to help you with arranging your flights.

The most excellent moment to trip Bhutan is of course the main festival seasons where the culture and color is at its best. During these times, normally March, April, September and October, it can be very hard to book a flight. So make sure you book well ahead and get your agent to arrange and confirm flights for you (most airlines can be booked up to 10 months in advance only). Also twice check that if you are booking your travel to coincide with a festival, that you will get a hold the chance to see one.

During these festival times the tariff price will be at a premium. If festivals are not your thing, then try going outside of period and you should be able to get as much as a 30% discount on your tour.

For other information regarding bhutan tour agents please go to see this WebSite http://www.bhutantourpackage.com
