Finding My Croc Shoes

By Matthew Giovanisci | July 4, 2009

When Crocs first came out, I was one of the many people that scoffed at the shoes. They were made of an ugly rubber, came in brilliant colors, and seemed awkward. They were like nothing else on the shoe market, and I was naive enough to turn a cheek to their uniqueness.

When Crocs first came out, I was one of the naive people that looked at them and wondered how people could wear them. Not only were they ugly, but they seemed bulky and uncomfortable. It was like people were trying to torture their feet for doing something bad to them. I spent a good year of my life forbidding to ever get a pair. And then a friend convinced me to just try on a pair, and form an opinion of my own.

Then, a few months later, as I was browsing a local shoe store, I came across the shoe that would change my life. The Mary Jane style Crocs. I once again tried them on, adn immediately knew I had to have them. I searched through the boxes to find my size and color, and then ran up to the cashier to pay for them. I put them on as soon as I got into the car, and then sat there smiling for a good five minutes before I drove away. I finally found the perfect shoe. Comfort and style. My feet have been thanking me ever since.

I still had my doubts about some of the Crocs styles, though. A few of them still had that cumbersome, bulky look to them that I just couldn’t swallow. It was tough trying to convince myself to not judge a book by it’s cover, like I had originally done, even after I had bought a pair of Crocs. And then one day at the mall, while shopping at a high end shoe store, I came across the most beautiful shoe ever.

As soon as I got home I fired up the computer and checked out Crocs.com, and was amazed with what I saw. There were heels, wedges, metallics, shoes that could be worn with dresses, slacks, oh my, I was in heaven. All I had to do was go to crocs.com and pick out my favorites.

As soon as I got home, I rushed over to the computer to get on the internet and check out www.crocs.com. I was floored. The different styles seemed like they went on forever. There were heels. There were wedges. There were metallics. Shoes that could be worn with dresses, and shoes that could be worn with slacks. I was in my paradise. All I had to do was browse to www.crocs.com, and comfort and style were at my fingertips. Now, when it’s time to go out for the night, I decide on wearing either my Hanalei, Rio, or Postiano’s, and my feet are wrapped in comfort, yet I still am dressed to impress.
